Kristen Stude Biography

Kiki Boo, born on 17 May 2017, is a Singaporean student innovator, multi-instrumentalist, and the principal inventor of MuJong™, a modular music theory educational game that transforms traditional theory learning into tactile, tempo-driven play.

At the age of seven, Kiki conceived MuJong to help learners grasp complex musical concepts through hands-on engagement, integrating clef reading, key signature adaptation, rhythmic summation, and strategic thinking. In April 2025, her invention was formally filed for patent protection under Application No. 10202501095Q with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore. The project has since been shortlisted under the Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors’ Award 2025.

Musically, Kiki is currently pursuing the ATCL Performance Diploma in Piano under concert pianist Maestro Sylvia Ng, and attained her Grade 5 Violin certificate (ABRSM) in March 2025 under Maestro Lim Ni Ta, principal conductor of the Addo Children Orchestra. She performs actively as a pianist, violinist, and vocalist, and is a member of several ensembles including the Addo Children Orchestra and Rejoice Ensemble.

She also composed and performed the official MuJong™ jingle, playing all instruments—piano, violin, cajón, drums, guitar—and vocals, with arrangement and mastering completed in collaboration with her father and mentor in their home studio.

Kiki is fluent in English and Mandarin, and enjoys playing Mahjong with her grandmother, Chinese chess with her grandfather, as well as reading, swimming, badminton, and exploring new musical instruments. Known for her sharp wit and quiet confidence, she continues to pursue learning across disciplines with the belief that children, when trusted and empowered, can achieve far more than what conventional systems expect of them.
