We are pleased to announce that MuJong: A Modular Music Theory Education System Using Tile and Card-Based Gameplay has been successfully accepted into the Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors’ Award (TKKYIA) 2025, under the Junior Student Category.
On 29 April 2025, we received confirmation that MuJong’s submission had passed all eligibility requirements. A follow-up from the TKKYIA Secretariat dated 13 May 2025 further affirmed that all submitted entries have been officially approved and are now undergoing the shortlisting process.
Developed by 7-year-old inventor Boo Ki Ki, MuJong transforms the way music theory is taught and experienced by integrating clef reading, key signature adaptation, rhythmic summation, and tempo-based gameplay into a single educational platform. The invention, protected under Singapore Patent Application No. 10202501095Q, was submitted as a new product addressing key limitations in current music education methods.
We look forward to the upcoming shortlisting results expected in the coming months. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the TKKYIA organisers for recognising and supporting young innovators like Ki Ki, and to our wider community for the encouragement received throughout this journey.
More updates will be shared as the award process progresses.
