Our Story

It all began with a girl, a grandma, and a set of Mahjong tiles.

At seven years old, Kiki had recently become obsessed with playing Mahjong with her Granny. What started as a fun bonding activity quickly evolved into a fascination. Kiki soon learn to memorise the tiles, mastered the gameplay, and even began strategising like a seasoned player.

One night, just before bedtime, her dad—knowing she had Mahjong on her mind—showed her a viral Instagram reel. It featured a high school chemistry teacher using Mahjong tiles to teach chemistry equation, turning an abstract subject into a hands-on game. The students loved and the whole class (allegedly) aced the subject!

Inspired, Kiki’s eyes lit up. Without missing a beat, she blurted out:

“What if we use Mahjong to teach music theory?”

Her parents chuckled. It was past her bedtime, and she had early orchestra rehearsal the next morning. “Great idea,” they said, “but sleep first.”

Her parents soon forgot about it… But Kiki did not.

After rehearsal the next day, Kiki brought the idea up again. this time with a sketch. She had drawn out musical tiles representing clefs, key signatures, and note values, along with a rough scoring system that rewarded correct musical phrasing and punished rhythmic mismatches.

It was no longer just a passing thought—it was a game.

And it was good.

That moment—between bedtime and baton, between Mahjong and melody—was the spark that became Mujong™: a musical learning system born from a child’s imagination and sharpened by her love for both music and play.
