It’s still early days — we don’t have a price, ship date, or all the details on exactly how it’ll differ mechanically from Mujong Classic beyond size and weight, just yet. But after months of development, including a supply-chain trip that put our team in a Chaoshan railway station and a Shenzhen makerspace, we’re so excited to finally show you a glimpse.

Supply chain meeting, first stop: 潮汕 (Chaoshan)! Building a lighter version of an existing product sounds simple from the outside — just use less material — but in practice it means real legwork: a supply-chain trip to China, kicking off at Chaoshan Railway Station as we start a manufacturing-focused itinerary.

Next stop is Chaihuo Makerspace in Shenzhen, a well-known makerspace with deep experience turning early-stage hardware ideas into manufacturable products — exactly the kind of partner we need as we work out how to redesign Mujong for weight and portability rather than simply reordering the same molds.

Press features and launch events make for better photographs than a supply-chain meeting at a railway station, but this trip might be just as important to what comes next — the unglamorous middle where “we should build a lighter version” turns into logistics, freight, and factory conversations. Every version of Mujong so far has been the same physical object at its core: a case, a set of tiles, a board — sturdy, complete, and, by design, not exactly pocket-sized. That’s a reasonable trade-off for a game meant to live on a classroom shelf or a family’s living-room table. It’s a much less reasonable one for a family trying to bring Mujong along on a trip, or a teacher moving between classrooms with a bag already full of sheet music and instruments.

We’ve carried Mujong Classic everywhere this past year — piano showrooms, conference booths, school classrooms — case by case, box by box, by a team that includes an eight-year-old. That’s exactly the pattern that got us thinking: what if there were a lighter way to bring Mujong wherever the music takes you?

So we’ve started developing a smaller, lighter version of Mujong, built around the same underlying game but designed to travel. It’s still early days, but we’re excited about where this is headed — stay tuned for updates as it develops!

Kiki and KC’s story has crossed into Hong Kong’s Chinese-language press! We’re sharing a clipping today from 信報 — the Hong Kong Economic Journal, Hong Kong’s oldest Chinese-language financial daily, founded in 1973 — covering the same father-daughter AI-assisted learning story that Business Insider reported a few weeks ago, this time for a Hong Kong readership.

What began as a simple experiment between a parent and child exploring AI-assisted music learning has now travelled across different countries, languages, and communities. We’ve redacted and adapted the circulated copy of the clipping out of respect for personal privacy considerations relating to certain event attendees.

Today, Mujong turns one! One year ago, Mujong began as a little idea powered by music, curiosity, and a child’s imagination.

This past year we’ve been so lucky to have so many people in our corner: the educators who opened their classrooms, the musicians and teachers who offered guidance, the students who made Mujong come alive in practice, the parents who trusted us with their children’s musical development, and the supporters and fans who shared, cheered, and stood beside us from day one. Thank you all.

From one tiny musical tile… to a growing movement of play, creativity, and learning. This is only Year One. The orchestra is just warming up.

Big news this morning: Business Insider has published an as-told-to essay, reported by Lee Chong Ming, under KC’s own byline — “My 8-year-old and I vibe-coded an app in 3 hours. AI is moving fast, so I figured it’s better to start her early.”

The piece recounts how KC and Kiki used a range of AI tools to build an app together in a single afternoon, framed around KC’s broader view that AI literacy is worth introducing early — provided it comes with guardrails rather than unsupervised access. It’s not a feature about Mujong the product so much as a piece about AI-assisted learning and parenting, with Kiki’s fluency and confidence as the through-line — and we’re thrilled it’s found a home with a globally recognised outlet.

Today we’re introducing our most deliberately simple product yet: Mujong Baby Mode, a stripped-down way to play that asks for exactly one prerequisite skill — the ability to count to four.

Zero. Kosong. 零. சுழி. No musical background needed — in English, Malay, Chinese, and Tamil, reflecting Singapore’s own linguistic mix right back at the audience it’s built for. The mechanics stay true to Mujong’s core loop — draw a tile, discard a tile — but are rebuilt around note values from a half to four beats, with the goal of building complete bars in common 4/4 time. Where Mujong Classic asks players to already grasp clefs, key signatures, and rhythm notation, Baby Mode asks only that a player can count and match.

Our tagline for it says it all: simple to start, hard to stop. Baby Mode isn’t a watered-down toy version of Mujong — it’s a genuinely different on-ramp, for players (and parents) who found Mujong Classic’s learning curve a real barrier. Up next: a Sight-reading Challenge and additional levels, so watch this space!

We’re chuffed to share that Hatch and Hustle — a platform built around entrepreneurship and youth resilience — has featured Kiki in a post titled simply “Singapore’s youngest 8-year-old entrepreneur.”

What we love about this feature is its angle: rather than asking readers to buy a game, Hatch and Hustle used Kiki’s story to make a bigger argument about how children are raised and educated. “Maybe it’s time we stop raising kids to just graduate and chase ‘safe’ jobs,” the post reads, alongside the observation that “the world looks different now, maybe we prepare them differently too.”

Today, Mujong took the stage at the Asia Pacific Entrepreneur Summit & Awards, held at The St. Regis Singapore and organised by Entrepreneur Asia Pacific in partnership with Entrepreneur Magazine, ACE (Action Community for Entrepreneurship), and EY. It marks a real evolution for us — from Edutainment startup to Edutech startup — as we debuted Mujong Digital, a software companion to our original physical tile game, to a room of angel investors, venture capitalists, private equity investors, and crowdfunding platforms.

The day’s most memorable moment was completely unplanned. During a main-stage panel, Kiki worked up the nerve to ask a question of the panellists. One of them, Jelmer David Ikink of Foxmont Capital, was visibly moved enough by the moment that he gifted her his own red “Entrepreneur” figurine on the spot, in recognition of the question and the eight-year-old who’d asked it. We won’t forget that.

Enroute to KL for a Mujong delivery! Back in June, Kiki was invited to a hi-tea session hosted by Henry Chan, Foreign Trade Director of Hailun Piano, at The Crafting Music Malaysia piano showroom in Kuala Lumpur — a gathering of musicians and educators where eight-year-old Kiki explained Mujong’s mechanics to a room of professional musicians, then played a Bach prelude and the Chinese standard Silver Clouds Chasing the Moon on Hailun’s flagship VG-180 grand piano, capped off by an unplanned public-piano performance at Petronas Twin Towers on the way out.

Five months on, we’re back — this time not to demonstrate Mujong, but to deliver it! Boxed sets in hand outside The ONE Smart Piano showroom in Kuala Lumpur, with a huge thank-you to both Crafting Music Malaysia and Hailun Malaysia for the support.

What started as a warm hi-tea introduction in June has turned into a genuine overseas partnership, with real orders and real product on the shelf. Thank you for having us back!
